Important Pet Safety Holidays

April is a busy month for pet related holidays! This Spokesdog sure loves holidays, especially April pet holidays that allow me to use my Spokesdog status to help the greater pet community. Earlier in the month I posted a blog regarding National Pet Day, which raises awareness and money for pet adoption, one of my favorite causes.

Another favorite cause of mine is pet safety. We often hear about abused, or hurt animals, which is why it’s important to promote pet safety. This April is National Prevention of Cruelty To Animals Month. The ASPCA has been active in this cause for 145 years and has asked everyone to “Go Orange” in the fight against Animal Cruelty. There is a special section on their website where you can find creative ways to “Go Orange”, learn how you can help local pets in your community, and even submit a story and photo of a pet you helped rescue from a tragic situation. They even have a neat Facebook application where you can put a badge on your profile showing you support the cause.

April is also National Pet First Aid Month. This is another important topic, because most pet owners rarely think anything bad could happen to their pet. But, what if your pet was choking on food or a toy and there is no time to get to the vet? It’s important to know the potential hazards your home has to a pet, and ways you can be prepared for such an emergency. You can take a class or get trusted info from organizations such as the Red Cross or PETA. Even the ASPCA has a free pet safety kit you can order online. This kit includes the pet poison control phone number and a pet rescue window decal that alerts emergency personnel that pets are inside your home.

Please take a few minutes to ensure you are prepared for a pet-emergency. We hope it never happens, but in this case it’s better to be safe then sorry!

April Pet Shows

Duke's TravelsYet again, this Spokesdog has been holding down the fort here in Pennsylvania as my owners traveled down to Atlantic City, NJ for the 23rd Annual H.H. Backer Spring 2011 Pet Industry Trade Expo and Educational Conference.

This sold-out pet expo is one of the biggest pet shows of the year, and the Neater Feeder was lucky enough to have one of the 560 booths among 315 other pet retailers.

My owners were really excited to promote the new Medium sized Neater Feeder pet feeding system, and to educate 5,000 potential retailers about how the Neater Feeder works to protect floors and walls from pet food and water spills.

You can check out the full press release for further details on our appearance at the show on our press page.

Check back on the blog to see where my owners will be traveling next – perhaps it will be a city near you. They love meeting neat pets and their owners as they travel across the country promoting the Neater Feeder!

Celebrating National Pet Day!

Today is National Pet Day here in the US. This holiday was founded by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert & Animal Advocate Colleen Paige to help create awareness about pet adoption. Since I was in a few homes before my current owners took me in, I try to spread the word about pet adoption as much as possible.

I would encourage everyone to check out the National Pet Day website for some additional information about pet adoption. I’d also like to truly thank everyone who has adopted pets like me. It’s made a huge difference in my life, and I’ve changed my owners lives too. I know there is a pet out there that can make a difference in your life if you just give them a chance.

If you have already adopted a pet – celebrate it today! There are plenty of ways to celebrate National Pet Day! Visit your local park for a special trip outdoors, surprise your pet with a new toy or favorite treat, or if you have a blog, write a post about pet adoption and help other pets enjoy the adopted life. There’s no better way to celebrate than giving back.

Happy National Pet Day!

March Travels

Duke's TravelsWhew! It’s been another busy month of traveling to pet expos and this spokesdog is in need of a nap.

This month I I’ve had to hold down the fort while my owners traveled to two exciting pet shows and two TV shows to help promote the Neater Feeder. The first pet show they visited was the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago, where they “officially” unveiled the Medium Sized Neater Feeder and it was a big hit!

After they got back from Chicago, I had to quickly help them pack up to fly to Orlando for The Global Pet Expo. At this pet show,  we educated potential retailers about how the Neater Feeder works.

My owners were then off to New York where to stopped by the big morning newscasts! I feel like a true celebri-dog just being a a part of the whole thing. Last Tuesday they stopped by The Today Show and then on Thursday they were featured on The Early Show! Did you see them on TV?

Now they’re home in Pennsylvania with me. We’re soaking up some quality time, and I’m helping to prepare them for the pet shows in April. Stop by and say hi to my folks, they love hearing from you all.  This spokesdog is going to take that well-deserved nap.

Celebrate Love Your Pet Day

Last Sunday, February 20 was Love Your Pet Day, one of my favorite holidays!  Did your owners show you a little extra love last Sunday for Love Your Pet Day? Mine sure did! I got some special treats and of course lots of extra attention.

Perhaps your owners spent a little extra time with their human friends for Valentine’s Day, but last weekend was all about giving us some extra attention! If they forgot about Love Your Pet Day it’s never too late for a belated gift so be sure and tell them that you still want to celebrate. It’s the perfect time to hint at the favorite toy you have been eyeing at the pet store, or that super giant treat you want to gobble up. Also, if you don’t already have a Neater Feeder, ask for that too! It’s the gift that will benefit both you and your owners.

Pet Parents, what did you do for your pet on Love Your Pet Day? Send me your stories and I’ll share them with other pets right here on the Neater Feeder Blog!

Neater Feeder: The Perfect Valentine’s Day Gift!

Are you looking for the perfect Valentine’s gift for your pet, or a pet lover? You are in luck because the Neater Feeder is the perfect way to show your pet how much you love them this v-day!

The Neater Feeder ranks among many (including Howard Stern’s wife) as the perfect gift for those with messy pets – show your significant other how much you not only love them, but their pet by gifting a Neater Feeder.

The Neater Feeder Mess-Proof Pet Feeder will take the mess away from mealtime for dogs that tend to get water all over the floor and for cats that like to play with their food more than eat it. This one-of-a-kind pet dish will keep all their food neatly in its place and not on the ground.

The elevated bowl allows for more comfort as your pet eats, and it helps improve digestion and reduce head and neck strain. It also prevents unwanted pests like ants from getting into the bowl or sneaking crumbs. This raised pet feeder essentially pays for itself with all the money you will save on food that will not go wasted thanks to this new pet feeder. So surprise your pet, or a pet owner you know with a Neater Feeder this Valentine’s Day!

Happy Gifting,

Duke, The Original Sloppy Dog
